Important Notice: Support for Windows 10 Ends October 14, 2025

Support for Windows 10 Ends October 14, 2025

As of October 14, 2025, Microsoft officially end support for Windows 10.

What does end of support mean?

After the end date, Windows 10 devices will continue to function, but Microsoft will no longer provide:

  • Technical support for any issues
  • Software updates or improvements
  • Security updates or vulnerability fixes

While you can still use Windows 10 after October 14, doing so increases your exposure to security risks such as viruses, malware, and data breaches. We strongly recommend upgrading to a supported version of Windows. The best option is to move to a modern device capable of running Windows 11 for improved performance, reliability, and security.

What stops after end of support

Devices still running Windows 10 will no longer receive:

  • Technical support from Microsoft
  • Feature updates and improvements
  • Security updates or fixes

Your device may continue to operate, but it will become progressively more vulnerable to malware, cyberattacks, and software incompatibility issues.

What this means for your business or you

  • Higher security risk. Without patches, known vulnerabilities can be exploited by attackers.
  • Software compatibility issues. Developers will eventually stop supporting Windows 10.
  • Compliance risks. Unsupported software may violate data protection or cybersecurity standards.
  • Increased costs. Relying on third-party support after EOL can be more expensive and less effective.

Options available

1. Upgrade in place to Windows 11

If your current PC meets Windows 11 requirements, you may be able to upgrade for free. Check compatibility before proceeding.

2. Replace your device

If your system is not compatible with Windows 11, consider replacing it with a new PC that includes Windows 11 preinstalled.

3. Extended Security Updates (ESU)

If you need more time to transition, Microsoft offers a paid Extended Security Updates (ESU) program that provides limited security updates for a few additional years. ESU is meant as a short-term bridge, not a long-term solution.

Microsoft 365 and Office apps

Will Microsoft 365 Apps still be supported?

Support for Microsoft 365 Apps on Windows 10 will also end on October 14, 2025. While the apps will continue to work, Microsoft strongly recommends upgrading to Windows 11 to avoid performance and reliability problems over time.

However, to maintain security during the transition period, Microsoft will continue providing security updates for Microsoft 365 Apps on Windows 10 for an additional three years, ending on October 10, 2028.

How will this affect my Microsoft Office apps?

Starting October 14, 2025, support for non-subscription versions of Microsoft Office will also change:

  • Support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 will end across all operating systems.
  • Office 2021 and Office LTSC 2021, along with Office 2024 and Office LTSC 2024, will still run on Windows 10 but will no longer be officially supported.

To maintain a supported and secure setup, we recommend upgrading your device to Windows 11 and moving to Microsoft 365. If you already own a perpetual Office license (such as Office 2021 or LTSC 2021), you can transfer it to a new Windows 11 device.

Please note: support for Office 2021 and Office LTSC 2021 will end one year later, in October 2026.
